The Upper Swat Development Authority Bill, 2021 was passed by the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 31st December 2021, in order to highlight the natural beauty of Swat by promoting eco-tourism. Swat being the center of tourism needed proper legal mechanism to entertain foreign as well as local tourists. Thus the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa established Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA) 2021.
Swat Development Authority (USDA) is meant to promote the breathtaking natural beauty, lush green scenic landscapes, clear springs & streams and picture blue meadows of Upper Swat. The authority is aimed to promote tourism by providing a variety of services. Similarly it would encourage the exploration of new sites to further enhance tourism.
The Vision is to develop the tourism sector as a national priority in a sustainable and acceptable manner.

An online Complaint Cell has been established in USDA to listen from the general public regarding their grievances. USDA immediately takes steps for the resolution of the grievances. Mostly, complaints regarding encroachments, Street lights, sanitation, water supply and much more.
During snowfall season, a 24/7 control room is established for information dissemination regarding weather condition, road situation, rescue and snow/slide clearance. Control Room of USDA remains in close liaison with District Govt.
The Vision is to develop the tourism sector as a national priority in a sustainable and acceptable manner, taking full advantage of regional and international trends and developments so that it can significantly contribute to the improvement of quality of life in Pakistan whilst promoting the country’s cultural and natural heritage. Development of tourism in the country would not only promote Pakistan’s culture at an international level but also improve its image across the globe…
